Parabola: A parabola is the locus of points such that the distance to the focus equals the distance to the directrix.

The point, where the parabola changes its direction, is called the vertex.

If the quadratic is written in the form [tex] y=a(x-h)^{2}+k [/tex], then the vertex is the point (h, k).

Now, consider the equation [tex] y=-5(x+2)^{2}+7 [/tex]

Comparing this equation with standard form of the parabola.

We get h= -2 and k=7

Therefore, the vertex of the parabola is (-2,7).
