Hi there! The answer is x = 1

To find our answer we have to write 1 / 36 as a power of 6.

[tex] \frac{1}{36} = 6 {}^{x - 3} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{1}{ {6}^{2} } = {6}^{x - 3} [/tex]
[tex]6 {}^{ - 2} = 6 {}^{x - 3} [/tex]

Using the rule g^a = g^b gives a = b, we get the following:

[tex] - 2 = x - 3[/tex]
Now add 3 to both sides of the equation.

[tex]1 = x[/tex]
[tex]x = 1[/tex]
