An advantage of innate immunity is ITS BARRIERS THAT PREVENT PATHOGENS FROM ENTERING INTO THE BODY.
The innate immune system is a sub-component of the humans' immune system; it is made up of cells and mechanisms that prevent the body from been invaded by infectious agents. The innate immune system is the first line of defense of the body when a pathogen try to infect the body, the system is normally activated by the presence of pathogens or their secretions. The innate immune system is made up of two basic components:
1. physical barriers such as skin, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, cilia, eyelashes, etc.
2. Defense mechanisms such as secretions, bile, mucous, gastric acid, tears, sweat, saliva, etc.
