The cells that enter meiosis are called the germ cells. Germ cells are produced in gonads, ovaries and testes, organs necessary for sexual reproduction. After the germ cells go through the process of meiosis they become haploid gametes, the sperm cells in testes and the egg cells in the ovaries.
