In what ways were each of the major regions of the British colonies similar to one another, and in what ways were they different?

If we're talking about British colonies in America, the biggest difference has to do with their location - the Northern colonies didn't really have many slaves, whereas the South was famous for their slavery and industry based on slave work. So that would be the biggest difference between them. As for the similarities, I guess all colonies wanted to lead better lives, and to become independent from Britain.
