how do I solve 1/2x+13=9

Step #1).  Subtract  13  from each side.

Step #2).  Multiply each side by  2 .

subtract 13 from 13 and 9, the 13 cancels out. then multiply the sum of 9-13 by 2. also multiply 2 with 1/2, which cancels out. 9-13 is -4, x 2 is -8
