The equation of a graph is 4x - 3y = 5. What is the x-intercept?

x intercept is where y=0
so make y=0
4x-0=5
x=5/4

4x - 3y = 0

The x-intercept is the point on the graph where it crosses the x-axis.
But everywhere on the x-axis, y=0.
So, at the intercept ...

                                          4x - 3(0) = 5

                                          4x           = 5

Divide each side by  4 :       x           =   5/4  or  1.25
