what are the main problems associated with using maps?

The main problems with using maps are that:
- It could be upside down (yes, it happens in real life and not just movies!) 
- The scale could be inaccurate and thus you either misjudge your distance or miss your turn.
- The actual map itself can be a bit confusing to read.
