People back then did not know why the sun would rise, why plants would grow and die, why nature happens, etc. Therefore, they believed that there are gods and goddesses that caused everything in the world to occur. They also believed that the gods impact their life's fate such as luck, tragedies, or simple happenings. The people would then practice rituals, commit sacrifices, and many more.
