A rectangular garden is fenced on all sides with 160 feet of fencing. The garden is 6 feet longer than it is wide. What is the area of the garden?

there are 4 sides in a rectangle so 4x two of the sides are 6 ft longer and since there are two side this makes it 12.

so 4x + 12 = 160 feet (now we solve for x)
4x = 148 
x = 37

and since the other side is 6 ft longer we add

37 + 6 = 43

area is L x W 
37 x 43 = 1591 sq ft . hope this helps
