The less common type of plant is the xerophyte. Hydrophytes are plants that live in or near water. Mesophytes are all the plants that you see around you, that can live in moderately arid or humid places and need some water. On the other hand, xerophytes need very little water and are located in very dry places. Such plants are cacti, for example.
