So put simply, this means x^2 -6+8=x-2. Now factor the left side, you get (x-2)(x-4)=x-2. Now divide both sides by (x-2). You get x-4=1. So the answer is x=5

f(x)= x²-6x+8 & g(x)=x-2

f(x) - g(x) = (x²-6x+8) - (x-2) ===>f(x) - g(x) = x²-7x+10
