first distribute 1/2 into (9-2x) which would give you:
4.5-1x= x+1
then you add 1x to each side and you will get:
4.5=2x+1
then you subtract 1 from each side and you will get:
3.5=2x
finally divide 3.5 by 2 and you will get:
x = 1.75
