When you have two points you can find the slope as follow:

P1 (-3 , -5)

P2 (4 , -8)

[tex]m=\frac{(y_2-y_1)}{(x_2-x_1)}[/tex][tex]m=\frac{(-8-(-5))}{(4-(-3))}[/tex][tex]m=\frac{(-8+5)}{(4+3)}=-\frac{3}{7}[/tex]Then the slope is:m= - 3/7
