6x-3y=9 and y=x+1

from 6x - 3y = 9

Divide both sides by 3

2x - y = 3

sub y = x + 1 into the equation

2x - x - 1 = 3

x - 1 = 3

x = 3 + 1

= 4

since y = x + 1

y = 4 + 1

= 5

Hence x = 4, y = 5
