the area of the rhombus is

[tex]A=\frac{a\times b}{2}[/tex]

where a is a diagonal and b the other diagonal

so replacing

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=\frac{4\times8}{2} \\ A=\frac{32}{2} \\ \\ A=16 \end{gathered}[/tex]

the are is 16 square miles
