If IK is the whole length of the line segment, then IJ + JK = IK.

IJ + JK = IK

(3x - 5) + (2x - 1) = (3x + 2)

3x + 2x - 5 - 1 = 3x + 2

5x - 6 = 3x + 2

2x - 6 = 2

2x = 8

x = 4

Now that we know the value of x, we can plug this value back into the expression for JK and evaluate.

JK = 2x - 1

JK = 2(4) - 1

JK = 8 - 1

JK = 7
