x^2 - 6x = 10...the number u would add to both sides : take half of -6, which is -3, and square it.....-3^2 = 9....so u would add 9 to both sides

x² - 6 x = 10
x² - 6 x + 9 = 10 + 9
( x - 3 )² = 19
x = 3 + / - √19
