How does atticus treat mrs. dubose? what does this say about the way atticus treats people?

Atticus understands that people struggle with their inner demons. He knows of Mrs. Dubose's struggle with morphine and he is really nice to her. This show that Atticus is not petty and he has strong morals on what's right and wrong.
