why learn about scientists and mathematics in social studies class

If I had to answer I'd say it's because scientists and mathematicians often serve important roles in history! History is a big part of Social Studies, and some of our biggest historical figures are scientists and mathematicians, like the oh so famous Albert Einstein, or Isaac Newton.
