7k -2(3 - k) = 12   Use the Distributive Property
  7k -6 +2k = 12   Add 6 to both sides
     7k + 2k = 18    Combine like terms (7k and 2k)
             9k = 18    Divide both sides by 9
               k = 2

A.) k = 2

7k-2(3-k)=12

7k-6+2k=12

add 2k to 7k

9k-6=12

add 6 to twelve

9k=18

divide by 9 to isolate k

k=2
