Given,

a/-9+3=5

(a-27)/-9=5

a-27=-45

a=-45+27

a=-18

firstly take the LCM of LHS which is -9 and slove it which further will be a-27 upon -9 and after that multiply 5 with -9 and u will find your answer -18
