No you cannot do that.  The 2 is only being multiplied in once.  If you distribute it into each set of parenthesis, you have multiplied it in twice.  Multiply it into only one set of parenthesis and then FOIL to get the polynomial expression.  Or you can FOIL the 2 sets of parenthesis first and then multiply the 2 in at the end.  Either way, you'll get the answer you need.
