Studying for a test is supposed to help highlighting the important aspects that are asked to be delivered during the test ( depending on the test type), refreshing some onf the noyions, processes already aquired especially if you do not use them often enough to compensate the 10% of what you learn in class, 20% of what you learn by writing and so on
