How does dante's interaction with sinners change as he moves deeper into the rings of hell

Well at first Dante felt pity for the sinners as he began his journey through the many pits of Hell.  As he progress on his journey, his attitude begins to change.  He feels less pity and more judgmental towards the sinners because they deserve their punishment.
