30 feet.....x yards

x=(30•1)/3
x= 30/3
x= 10 yards

If he needs 30 feet, and can only buy multiples of 3 feet, he needs to see how many times 3 goes into 30. And since 30/3 is 10, he needs to get 10 yards of rope (or 10 times 3 feet).
