The Michigan Studies were a series of leadership studies that started in 1950s at the University of Michigan. These studies had the objective of establishing the behavior of a leader that improves productivity. In The Michigan Studies, the behaviors of interest to achieve that objective were task-oriented behavior and relationship-oriented behavior.
