How does inertia affect a person who is not wearing a seatbelt during a collision?

An object stays in motion stays in motion due to inertia. If a person gets into a collision and isn't wearing a seat belt, they won't stop with the car so they'll spring forward. If a person is wearing a seat belt, they will be held back by the seat belt.
