Logarithmic equations are the inverse of exponential equations.
Say you have the exponential equation of:

This is inversely equivalent to:
[tex]log_{2}(y) = x[/tex]
By general definition:
[tex]y = b^x[/tex] = [tex]log_{b} (y) = x[/tex]
