The Precambrian is the longest stage in the History of the Earth. It begins when the Earth was formed, 4,600 million years ago, and ends with the beginning of the Phanerozoic eon, that is, almost 4.000 years of the planet's history. The Precambrian occupies 88% of the history of the Earth.
