The citizen-soldiers who boasted that they could be ready at a moment´s notice were the Spartans. Sparta was one of the city-states of Ancient Greece. All Spartans were trained in soldiering from their birth. Respected and considered the strongest army and the best of soldiers of all Greek citt-states.
