The answer would be 5.

6 times 2X is 12x

6 times 5 is 30

a = 5

Plugging in 5, we have:

6(2x + 5)

= 6(2x) + 6(5)

= 12x + 30

So we have,

12x + 30 = 12x + 30

which is true!
