The answer looks like it would be 10.  Just distribute, add your x's together that you have on the left side, and then add 1 to both sides.

3(x-1) -2x=9

Distribute the three

3x-3-2x=9

Simplify

x-3=9

Add 3 to both sides

x=12

Check:

3(12-1) -2(12) =9

3(11) -24=9

33-24=9

9=9

There fore x=12
