The distance between two points is found using something called the distance formula. The distance formula goes like this:

[tex]\sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1})^{2} + (y_{2} - x_{1})^{2}}[/tex]

(x₂ - x₁) and the y equivalent is the same as the change between the x or y values between each coordinate. Using this formula, the distance between (5,-8) and (53,-28) is ~43.635
