-3(x+2)=15

use the distributive property and multiply

you then get

-3x - 6 = 15

add 6 to both sides to cancel out the -6

you get -3x = 21

divide 21 by -3

you get x = 7

but that's only the first part, since you now have x, plug in the value (7) for x

2(7)-1

multiply 2 times 7 and you get

14 -1
