Given that, number a exceeds the number b by 50 percent. So,

a=100%b+50%b

a=150%b

a=1.5b

[tex] \frac{a}{1.5} =\frac{1.5b}{1.5} [/tex] By dividing each sides by 1.5 to isolate b.

0.67a=b

67%a=b

So, b is 67% smaller than a.
