In Colgrove v. Battin, 413 U.S. 149 (1973), the United States Supreme Court ruled that ruled that federal civil trials should comprise of six persons. The court upheld that six person civil juries were constitutional and consistent with the Seventh Amendment requirement that the right of a trial by jury be preserved.
