The apprentice was Samuel Slater who became known as the Father of American Industry. He learned a lot about cotton manufacturing while he was an apprentice to Jedediah Strutt who was the partner of Richard Arkwright. He left his family behind in England and sailed to America with the construction plans of the Arkwright factory.
