The surface area of a shape is basically the sum of all the areas on a shape.

We’ve been given that the side is 17 mm.

An area of a square is A=s^2, in which s means side. So we do 17^2 to get the area of ONE of the squares.

Once we do that we get that the area of 1 square is 289.

Since there are 6 squares we need to multiply 289 by 6.

Therefore,

SA=1734mm^2
