Let C = degrees Celsius and F = degrees Fahrenheit [tex]C = (F - 32) \times \frac{5}{9}\\\\ [/tex] [tex]= (-40 - 32) \times \frac{5}{9}\\\\[/tex] [tex]= (-72) \times \frac{5}{9}\\\\[/tex] [tex]= -\frac{360}{9} \\\\[/tex] [tex]= -40[/tex]
