let, f(x)= x^3 -6x^2 +2kx -3

since,x-1 is a factor of f(x).

Then,(1)^3-6×(1)^2+2k×1-3=0

or,1-6+2k-3=0

or,-8+2k=0

or,2k=8

or,k=4

Therefore,k=4.
